After over a decade, indie rock duo Holy Holy are calling it a day. The pairing of producer and composer Oscar Dawson and songwriter and lyricist Timothy Carroll have announced they are going on hiatus. To mark the news, Holy Holy revealed a huge Australian tour taking place across May and June.

“Being in HOLY HOLY has been one of the greatest honours of my life. The memories we made and the songs we wrote will stay with me forever. I’m so grateful to our team, our collaborators and most of all our audience for how much they have given us,” Carroll says. “Next year, I’m moving to Sweden for a couple of years, and Oscar is living in London, so now feels like a good time to step away and work on other projects.”

Caroll adds, “We'd like to give a special shout-out to Ryan Strathie, our incredible drummer and long-time collaborator, and Graham Ritchie, our bass player and spirit guide, two of the most talented musicians we've ever had the pleasure of playing with and two of the most gracious and lovely people too. It's been such a privilege working with them both.”

“We’ve booked a run of shows at some of our favourite venues across the country and we can’t wait to share these songs with our fans one more time. We’ve always loved playing live, hanging out with the support bands, and meeting the crowd after the shows to hear their stories. This is going to be a special run. The hardest part will be picking the setlist,” jokes guitarist producer Dawson.

The A Grand Hiatus tour begins in Adelaide at Hindley Street Music Hall on Friday, May 9. The lads then hit Perth’s Freo Social (Saturday, May 10), Torquay Hotel (Thursday, May 15), Melbourne’s The Forum (Saturday, May 17), Thirroul’s Anita’s Theatre (Thursday, May 22), Central Coast’s Drifter’s Wharf (Friday, May 23), Sydney’s Enmore Theatre (Saturday, May 24), Launceston’s Ducane Brewery (Thursday, May 29), Hobart’s Odeon Theatre (Friday, May 30) and Forth Pub in Tassie (Saturday, May 31).

The final three dates of the tour take place at Gold Coast’s Miami Marketta (Thursday, June 5), Kings Beach Tavern (Friday, June 6) and Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on Saturday, June 7.

Holy Holy have had one hell of a run. The acclaimed duo have dropped five awesome albums and toured frequently across Australia and beyond. Their list of achievements includes a double platinum single, one platinum and four gold singles and over 150 million streams on Spotify.

The lads are excited to say goodbye to their fans with a hit-filled setlist spanning their entire career. They’ve also shared the news that they’ll be accompanied on tour by several special guests whose names will be revealed in the lead up to the tour.

“We have always loved writing and performing with other artists; sharing a song with someone creates a special kind of bond, and when you get up on stage and perform together, you become like family. So we’ll be hitting up our contact lists and seeing who we can convince to come down and party with us,” says the band.

Holy Holy are unsure what the future holds. “For now, having a break and getting lost in other projects is what feels right. We’re not sure what comes next, but we’ll always love the times we had in HOLY HOLY”

Catch Holy Holy at Hindley Street Music Hall on Friday, May 9. For full ticketing information visit holyholymusic.com.
