MISSY HIGGINS ANNOUNCES 20TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATORY TOUR OF DEBUT ALBUM, THE SOUND OF WHITE

Celebrated Australian singer-songwriter Missy Higgins is embarking on a remarkable nationwide tour titled ‘The Second Act Tour’, commemorating the 20th anniversary of her trailblazing debut album, The Sound of White.
This unique tour, which stops in Adelaide in May, promises a captivating two-act performance, showcasing Missy’s evolution as an artist and revisiting the monumental impact of her debut album on Australian music.
Scheduled for next autumn, The Second Act Tour will see Missy gracing theatres across the country, presenting a distinctive evening of music. The concert will commence with an acoustic first set, featuring a blend of fresh tracks alongside beloved fan favourites from her early career. Following an intermission, Missing will return to the stage alongside her full band to deliver a mesmerising performance of The Sound of White in its entirety, coupled with some of her other well-known hits. This marks her return to theatre performances since 2018, following her tenure as a special guest during Ed Sheeran’s stadium shows across Australia.
The Sound of White, an album widely regarded as one of the most influential in Australian music history, presented an intensely introspective collection of songs including timeless classics like ‘Scar’, ‘Ten Days’ and ‘The Special Two’. With over a million copies sold and six ARIA Awards to its name, the album has inspired a new generation of Australian female artists like Amy Shark, Gretta Ray, Gordi, Angie McMahon.
“I penned those songs in my late teens, never anticipating they’d reach anyone’s ears, so they were deeply personal, akin to writing my secrets in a diary,” Missy reflects on her early song writing process and says her forthcoming album feels connected to her first. “This new record feels like a sequel, both navigating uncertain futures and probing questions of self-identity and aspirations.”

Further, in celebration of the album’s 20th anniversary, a deluxe edition on CD and LP will be released April 5, 2024, featuring bonus live recordings of each track and expanded artwork. Pre-orders for the physical edition have already commenced.
The tour is accompanied by the release of a new track ‘Cry Me A River’ available for streaming. This rendition holds sentimental value for Missy, as it was the first song she ever performed live.
As Missy gears up for her ‘Second Act’, she aims to challenge the industry’s perceptions about female artists’ longevity in music. “I’m determined to challenge that. Just as the songs from The Sound of White resonated with teenagers, I hope the new songs will also strike a chord with those who grew up with my music.”
Having received an impressive 26 ARIA Award nominations since her discovery by triple j 2002, Missy Higgins remains one of Australia’s most beloved live performers.
