Prateek Kuhad Brings His ‘Silhouettes’ Tour To Adelaide
The acclaimed singer-songwriter has been compared to Sufjan Stevens and José González.
Arguably India’s biggest pop star, Prateek Kuhad has announced his debut Australian tour.
The singer-songwriter is bringing his ‘Silhouettes’ tour Down Under this September, playing shows in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
The man behind hits ‘Kasoor’, ‘Kho Gaye Hum Kahan’ and ‘Co2’ begins his short Australian stay with a show in Perth at Amplifier on Wednesday, September 4. He then moves on to Lion Arts Factory in Adelaide on Thursday, September 5 before a gig in Melbourne at the Corner Hotel on Friday, September 6. Kuhad’s final two performances are locked in for Sydney’s Metro Theatre on Saturday, September 7 and Brisbane’s The Brightside on Monday, September 9.
Tickets for all shows are on sale now via prateekkuhad.com.
Singing in both Hindu and English, Kuhad has been called “one of the country’s leading singer-songwriters” by Rolling Stone India and his song ‘cold/mess’ was listed as one of Barack Obama’s favourite tracks from 2019.
Inspired by Elliot Smith and Bob Dylan, Kuhad began writing songs and performing them at local shows while he was studying at New York University in 2010. After graduating he returned to India and began to take his music career seriously, releasing his self-titled debut EP in 2011.
His debut album In Tokens & Charms followed in 2015 and resulted in a publishing deal with Los Angeles–based company Cutcraft Music. Kuhad went global in 2020 when his independent single ‘Kasoor’ hit the top of the Apple Music all-genre chart. This led to Kuhad becoming the first Indian artist signed by American record label Elektra Records in 2020.
Enjoying the success of his most recent record, 2023s The Way That Lovers Do, Kuhad’s ‘Silhouettes’ tour is the first chance for Aussie audiences to see what all the fuss is about.
Tickets for Prateek Kuhad’s Adelaide show at Lion Arts Factory are on sale now via Moshtix.
