A few weeks back the official list of vinyl for Record Store Day 2024 was released. The collection of records that make up the list includes re-releases, limited editions and all manner of special coloured vinyl that will be made available on Record Store Day, Saturday, April 20.
Some of the standout picks are a 140g 12" picture vinyl single of French electronic duo Air’s 1998 tune ‘Kelly Watch the Stars’, a tan coloured vinyl of De La Soul’s Live At Tramps, NYC, 1996 and a very special Record Store Day 10" white coloured vinyl of Kate Bush’s Eat the Music.
At that time there had only been three Australian titles announced: a blue double LP of Ian Moss’ Live At the Enmore, a saffron yellow vinyl of Montaigne’s Glorious Heights and an exclusive Record Store Day red vinyl of Sons of the East’s Palomar Parade record. That list has been updated to include seven additional exclusive vinyl.
These new records include a Dorothy The Dinosaur (green and yellow splatter vinyl) of The Wiggles Yummy Yummy LP, a clear pink vinyl of Deep Faith’s Gloria In Tumultu, Veritas In Fragore, Prophetus Insanum EP and the double vinyl compilation Time Capsule. Australian Sounds. 1985-1994. Volume One, which features songs from the Hard-Ons, Magic Dirt, The Meanies, Tumbleweed and more.
Record Store Day is one of the most exciting dates on the calendar for vinyl lovers, but it’s not just collectors who are keen. Sydney artist Montaigne, whose debut album, Glorious Heights, is being released on saffron yellow vinyl, is also pumped for her record to finally be made available on vinyl. “I’m so excited to finally release Glorious Heights on vinyl after years of demand,” she said in a statement.
“I’m also stoked that I could do it in partnership with Record Store Day and support independent retailers of music as I embark on my own journey of independence.”
