Vinyl lovers rejoice – the date for Record Store Day 2025 has been unveiled!

In a change from previous years, the special day falls on Saturday, April 12, one week earlier than the normal third week of April. This is due to the regular day being a holiday in many countries around the globe.

The annual celebration of all things music and vinyl has been happening since 2007 after a group of Baltimore record store owners got together and decided to “celebrate the culture of the independently owned record store.”

What was once a small event hosted by a group of independent record stores has become a global sensation, with record stores all across the world taking part in the day.

Along with celebrating music, vinyl and record stores, the day has become renowned for the limited edition, special releases and reissues available on the day. Some of the most popular international releases from last year included a RSD special edition of Pearl Jam’s Dark Matter, Talking Heads’ Live at WCOZ 77 and a 2LP gold coloured 25th Anniversary Edition of Raekwon’s Immobilarity.

There were also been plenty of fantastic Aussie releases in 2024, with Montaigne dropping an exclusive saffron yellow vinyl of their album Glorious Heights, Ian Moss releasing the blue double LP Moss’ Live At the Enmore and even The Wiggles getting in on the fun with a green and yellow splatter vinyl reissue of their 1994 release, The Wiggles Yummy Yummy LP.

Record Store Day has historically only accepted vinyl releases from established record labels and artists, but times have changed, with registrations open to independent labels and artists this year.

If you’ve got an upcoming release you believe is suitable for Record Store Day 2025, click this link and register your details. Registrations open today, Friday, January 10 and close Friday, January 31.

The full list of RSD exclusives will be released in the coming weeks.
