Indie rockers South Summit have fast become Western Australia’s next big thing. Since forming in 2020, the five-piece has built a large following thanks to their many festival appearances, released a string of triple-j-played singles and dropped several EPs, including last year’s well-received six-track EP, Tales of the Yeti.

The lads have spent this year hard at work in the studio recording their highly anticipated debut LP, The Bliss (pre-order/pre-save here). Produced by Dave Parkin (Spacey Jane) and mastered by Brian Lucey (Post Malone, The Black Keys), The Bliss was recorded at Perth’s Blackbird Sound Studio and sees the band experimenting with their coastal sound.

Speaking about the album that arrives November 8, bassist Josh Tindall says: “The Bliss is a fresh new sound to our fans. We mixed up happy and sad vibes, and everything in between. We had a blast experimenting with new sounds and pushing the limits of our production and live performance in the studio. We like to call this vibe a mixture of everything we’re excited about right now, while keeping a hint of our classic South Summit feel.”

Taking the time out of their busy schedule last week to appear on triple j’s Like A Version, South Summit performed their single ‘Givin’ It Up’ and covered The Police’s 1978 hit, ‘Roxanne’. Giving the song a playful reggae edge, South Summit’s version even included a snippet of Teriyaki Boyz’s iconic ‘Tokyo Drift’. You can give it a listen below.

Along with the exciting news of South Summit’s debut album, the band have revealed a run of dates across the country in February and March 2025.

In a statement about the tour, South Summit says: “We’re super looking forward to our AUS/NZ Album Tour next February/March! These are by far the biggest headline shows we’ve ever played, and we can’t wait to get out there and see everyone again. These shows feel a little extra special though, it’s been a while since we’ve toured the whole country, and showcasing our debut album is something we’ve been looking forward to for a long time. We’ve got a brand new live show for you guys, and plenty more treats for ya! See you guys on the road.”

After three gigs in New Zealand, South Summit kick things off in Australia at Brightside in Meanjin/Brisbane on Friday, February 21. The tour continues at Warrane/Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory on Saturday, February 22, Mulubinba/Newcastle’s Over the Ditch Festival on Sunday, February 23 and Naarm/Melbourne’s Corner Hotel on Friday, February 28. South Summit wrap things up with two final shows at Jive Bar in Tarndanya/Adelaide on Saturday, March 1 and The Rechabite in Boorloo/Perth on Saturday, March 8.
