Since their very first performance in Brisbane in 1995, The Ten Tenors have established themselves as one of the world’s top vocalist groups. What was meant to be a one-off corporate gig put on by a group of blokes from Brisbane’s Conservatorium of Music has turned into a musical touring juggernaut, with The Ten Tenors having performed more than 3,500 shows in 37 different countries. They’ve also released 13 studio albums and one live album, Amigos Para Siempre: Live in Madrid.

Having sold out shows at acclaimed venues such as the Royal Albert Hall London, The Shrine Auditorium Los Angeles and The Sydney Opera, The Ten Tenors’ triumphant Australian return is sure to be another epic display of the group’s vocal talents.

60 different members have made up The Ten Tenors over the past 30 years, with the current all-star lineup featuring some of Australia and New Zealand’s best opera and theatre singers. Led by musical director Michael Edwards, the group also includes JD Smith, Adrian Li Donni, Cameron Barclay, Ammon Bennett, Boyd Owen, Sam Ward, Jared Newall, Riley Sutton and Daniel Belle.

The Ten Tenors are like a family, with classical tenor Owen saying: “The camaraderie and feeling of being a Tenor can be likened to the combination of the best parts of a strong family bond, a football team and a secret club, rolled into one.”

Long-time manager D-J Wendt adds: “We don’t have a secret tattoo or a ring, but for a time there we did have the secret cuff links that were worn on stage.”

Catch The Ten Tenors at Her Majesty’s Theatre on Saturday, May 24. For full ticketing information visit mellenevents.com.au.
