UK bad boys The Libertines are making their triumphant return to Australia next year. Announcing their first trip Down Under in eight years, The Libertines have confirmed three East Coast shows for April 2025.

The tour comes in support of the quartet’s long-awaited fourth album All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade, which arrived earlier this year to relatively positive reviews, with NME awarding the record 4/5.

The current lineup of Carl Barât (vocals/guitar), Pete Doherty (guitar/vocals), John Hassall (bass) and Gary Powell (drums) kick off their tour in Sydney at the Enmore Theatre on Saturday, April 12. It’s then on to Melbourne’s Forum on Tuesday, April 15 before the tour wraps up in Brisbane at Fortitude Music Hall on Thursday, April 17. Sadly Adelaide doesn’t make the cut.

Secret Sounds pre-sale commences at 9:30am local time this Friday, September 13. You can register your interest here. General on sale tickets will be available from 9:30am local time on Monday, September 16 via Secret Sounds.

Arriving on the scene during the early years of the 00s UK indie scene, The Libertines struck a nerve with music fans when they dropped their 2002 debut album, Up the Bracket. They followed this two years later with The Libertines, arguably the band’s best work and one of the great indie rock albums of that period.

Sadly Doherty’s personal issues, including drug addiction and prison time, led to him being kicked out of the band before The Libertines eventually dissolved in 2004, with Barât making it clear he would not continue the venture without Doherty.

After not speaking for several months, Doherty and Barât reconnected and performed a couple of one-off shows before officially getting the band back together in 2014. Since then they’ve released two albums – Anthems for Doomed Youth (2015) and All Quiet on the Eastern Esplanade (2024) – and continued to tour sporadically.

Fans of the band can expect to hear all The Libertines’ big hits, including 'Don't Look Back Into The Sun' and 'Can't Stand Me Now’, along with newbies like ‘Run Run Run’ and ‘Shiver’, when they hit Australian shores next year.
