THE RIONS DROP NEW SINGLE ‘SWEET COCOON’, ANNOUNCE AUSTRALIAN TOUR

The Northern Beaches continues to produce the goods, with up-and-coming indie rockers The Rions announcing the release of their latest single, ‘Sweet Cocoon’, as well as a national tour for this June.
The band’s new tune is a fun dose of indie goodness the band revealed is an ode to bitterness.
“There’s something beautiful about changing who you are in order to distance yourself from who you were, and we attempted to capture that in this song,” they said in a statement.
“We hope you can scream it at the top of your lungs as a ‘fuck you’ to that certain someone or something in your life. Whether you need a cocoon right now, or you’re already as badass as you want to be, ‘Sweet Cocoon’ will make you sure of it.”
To coincide with dropping their new single, The Rions have also announced a seven-date national tour. The quartet will play both all ages and 18+ events, with the first date of the tour on Friday, May 10 at Freo Social in Fremantle. The Rions then hit 170 Russell in Melbourne on Friday, May 31, Altar in Hobart on Saturday, June 1, UC Live in Canberra on Saturday, June 8, The Gov in Adelaide on Sunday, June 9, The Triffid in Brisbane on Friday, June 14 and The Metro Theatre in Sydney on Saturday, June 15.
Support for the tour comes from Melbourne electro-pop trio Blusher and New Zealand feel-good rockers Park Rd, except Perth, where The Rions will be joined by local bands Fool Nelson and Coolibah.
After winning triple j’s Unearthed High competition in 2021, The Rions have been slowly building their following across the country and honing their craft, with their 2023 debut EP, Minivan, well-received by critics and fans.
The group of Noah Blockley (lead vocals, bass guitar), Harley Wilson (guitar), Asher McLean (guitar), and Tom Partington (drums) have recently returned from their first international shows in New Zealand and are looking forward to heading back on the road and entertaining their Aussie fans.
