Towns Share New Single ‘Tantrum’, Announce Debut Album and National Tour

TOWNS debut record sentimental slowdown arrives next month.

Adelaide punk favourites TOWNS have announced the release of their debut album, sentimental slowdown.

Arriving Friday, November 15 via Farmer & The Owl/BMG (pre-order/pre-save here), the record marks ten years of friendship between bandmembers Aston Valladares and Dan Steinert.

Speaking about their time as friends, the band shares: “We first met on our first day of uni, dreaming of achieving just a fraction of the incredible things we've been fortunate enough to do. This album feels like a chapter in the story of everything we've experienced together.”

Not only have TOWNS revealed the release date of their highly touted album, which explores feelings of nostalgia and growth, but the lovable duo have also shared its first single, ‘TANTRUM’.

The tune is three minutes of fuzzy punk rock goodness about growing up and letting go of childish behaviours. As TOWNS explain, "Unfortunately, as a child, those emotions weren’t taken seriously, so we bring them into adulthood unresolved."

If ‘TANTRUM’ is a small sample of what to expect from TOWNS’ album, be prepared for an energetic assault of hazy guitar bangers paired with introspective and relatable lyrics.

To celebrate the release of sentimental slowdown, TOWNS are embarking on a five-date national tour.

Beginning at Perth’s Four 5 Nine on Saturday, November 16, TOWNS then play shows at Adelaide’s Crown & Anchor (Friday, November 22), Brisbane’s The Retreat (Saturday, November 23) and Sydney’s The Trocadero Room (Friday, November 29), before finishing up with a final gig at the Bearded Lady in Brisbane on Saturday, November 30.
