Granite Island Discs: Michael ‘Ace’ Gangnuss From Woodshed Royal Park
Like Desert Island Discs. Only South Australian – and without the litigation from the BBC.
What five songs would you take to a desert island?
1. KISS – ‘Rock Bottom’
2. Mötley Crüe – ‘Too Fast For Love’
3. Electric Callboy – ‘Tekkno Train’
4. Hardcore Superstar – ‘Wild Boys’
5. Enforcer – ‘Die for the Devil’
If you could only pick one, what would it be?
‘Rock Bottom’ by KISS. The first time I heard this track, I was hooked. I’ve been a diehard fan ever since.
What’s your favourite album?
Guns N' Roses Appetite For Destruction. I love my ‘80s glam, but this album is my favourite from that era. From start to finish, you can’t skip a song.
What’s your favourite song by an SA artist/band?
‘Breathe’ by Audio Reign. A great song by a great band. I also hold a soft spot for the track as it was the first music video filmed at Woodshed!
Favourite music-related memory?
There are so many to choose from, but I would have to say seeing KISS’ final show in New York City in December last year. As soon as the ‘End Of The Road’ tour was announced, I knew I had to be there for the finale. I was fortunate enough to get tickets to the final two shows and spent five days in NYC. The city was abuzz with everything KISS, from subway tickets and pizza boxes to pop-up stores and flash tattoos. KISS took over the city where they started and it was a memory I’ll never forget.
