This year’s Adelaide Beer & BBQ Festival has gone above and beyond with its music lineup, adding over 25 new bands and DJs to this year’s edition.
The Adelaide Beer & BBQ Festival just got even bigger with the announcement that over 25 more artists are joining the already stacked lineup.
Held at the Adelaide Showground across the weekend of July 12-14, this year’s festival is headlined by an array of Aussie talent that includes the Australian Rock Collective (an ensemble made up of members from Powderfinger, Spiderbait, You Am I and Jet), local legends Bad//Dreems & Friends; who'll be belting out The Great South Australian Songbook, and the much loved Peter Combe performing alongside his Newspaper Mama Band.
The crew here at The Note are also stoked to reveal the artists we’ve handpicked to play the rocking punk club The Last Resort on Friday, July 13, headlined by Presidents of the United States cover band The Prime Ministers of the Commonwealth of Australia.
Joining them for a raucous night of local tunes will be punk upstarts Looch who know how to get the party started with their infectious tunes that will have you moshing like crazy after a few craft brews. Party Lips will take audiences on a trip back to the 90s alt-rock scene, with the four kick-ass females taking no prisoners with their punk rock sensibilities.
Also on the lineup is Energy Angel, a boisterous trio whose three-track EP Disappear Here is guitar-driven noise rock of the highest quality and The Note favourites Pest Control who describe themselves as “fever dream fem punk.” They are full of swagger and don’t give a fuck who they piss off. This is punk rock with attitude and feeling.
The winner of the Note vote will also be added to the bill, with the lucky band revealed in the July issue of The Note.
On Saturday night The Last Resort is curated by South Australia’s newest booking agency, General Admission Agency, with a lineup including Victorian alt-rockers Thee Cha Cha Chas, punk purveyors AGAPANTHER, excitable Aussie pub rockers Jongo Bones and the Barefoot Bandits, engaging electro three-piece Tonix and disco pop duo Sexy as Shit.
Along with the above-mentioned acts playing on The Last Resort stage, there’s a smorgasbord of awesome artists who have also been included on the bill for Adelaide Beer & BBQ Festival. Victorian duo Hana & Jesse Lee's Bad Habits bring the country bluster while Adelaide’s own Matt Ward will be serenading crowds with his whimsical folk songs. Also appearing is the flannel-wearing, country and western quartet Brad Chicken & The Bootstraps, ready to unleash their Southern-fried country ditties alongside singer-songwriter Drew Akin.
For those more interested in getting their dance on while chowing down on some BBQ, head to the Riot City Wrestling ring or Silent Disco and experience a wicked lineup of DJs including Big Chip, Con Air, Disco Dave, Ferris Mular, Going Steady DJs, Leah Tait, PAJ DJs, Space Jam DJs, Rebel Yell DJs and Wanmore.
The fest also has a selection of market stalls aimed at music lovers, with Crackle & Pop Records and Underground Records slinging vinyl all weekend for those who want to take some time out from sinking beer and devouring BBQ and feel like some retail therapy.
