This year’s Adelaide Guitar Festival has been another massive success, but it’s not over yet. While the Adelaide leg of the two-and-a-half-week live music spectacular ends this weekend, organisers have revealed the festival is hitting the road next month.

On the Road is a five-day celebration of musical goodness taking place on Kangaroo Island from Thursday, November 7 to Monday, November 11.

“I am delighted to announce that On the Road will be back with a series of free community events in November,” says Adelaide Guitar Festival Artistic Director Slava Grigoryan. “I can’t wait to see artists and audiences connecting across Kangaroo Island, it’s always one of my favourite things to witness at Adelaide Guitar Festival.”

The stacked program takes place across the Island with two main showcases occurring at Kingscote Town Hall and The Shearing Shed at Eleanor Downs. There will be a series of pop-up performances at a range of local venues including KI Tru Thai, Dudley Wines, Penneshaw Pub, Emu Bay Lavender Farm and the Kangaroo Island Brewery.

There’s an awesome lineup of incredibly talented artists taking part in this year’s On the Road festivities, with Adelaide Guitar Festival Artistic Director Slava Grigoryan, guitar virtuoso Minnie Marks, acclaimed First Nations singer-songwriter Glenn Skuthorpe and The Note favourite Lucas Day all performing.

Also part of the event are guitarist Tom Kneebone, folk rocker Alana Jagt, singer-songwriter from the Yuin Nation Kyarna Rose, emerging artist Nathan May, soul singer Jamie Lena and allrounder Dustyn, the new project of accomplished guitarist and singer-songwriter Dusty Lee Stephensen.

Speaking about On the Road, Olivia Baker from Kangaroo Island’s The Shearing Shed at Eleanor Downs says: “Kangaroo Islanders are thrilled to have Adelaide Guitar Festival coming to the island again. Locals come out in droves to see the amazing musicians that visit. The event strengthens community bonds and gives locals an opportunity to see world class musicians.”

Adelaide Festival Centre CEO and Artistic Director Douglas Gautier AM adds: “Adelaide Festival Centre is looking forward to bringing world class musicians back to Kangaroo Island this November. On the Road is an opportunity to celebrate our beloved Adelaide Guitar Festival and support artists across the state.”
