Pop-punk favourites Between You & Me are calling time on their career… for now. The Naarm/Melbourne quintet consisting of Jake Wilson (vocal), Chris Bowerman (guitar), Jai Gibson (guitar), James Karagiozis (bass) and Jamey Bowerman (drums) took to Instagram to release a statement revealing the much-loved band are going on hiatus.
“After being a band for almost 8 years, it feels like 2024 was a culmination of a lot of hard work,” the statement reads. “It also feels like a year where we finally reached ‘the finish line’ for Between You & Me.
“For the first time, BYAM headlined in the UK & USA. A dream we never thought could be possible – selling out shows on the other side of the world. We released our independent EP SH!T Yeah.
“We also headlined Australia, twice. Including our biggest ever shows and heading to regional Australia for the very first time.”

The statement continues, “In an industry where you are always looking for the next big opportunity and continuously feeling unfulfilled, 2024 was our year to reflect on the wild things we’ve been able to achieve. The journey for us has been slow and gradual with a lot of bumps in the road, but for a band without a label or management, it’s time to smell the roses.”
“We’ve spent our lives chasing ‘the dream’ and for now, we are content with taking time away from BYAM. A hiatus if you will, but more so time and space to live our adult existence. We’re not sure what’s next for BYAM, or if there will be anything more, and if this is it, then we are immensely grateful for the journey we were able to go on.”
Between You & Me ended the statement with a thank you to everyone who has supported them over the journey: “Thank you to everyone for a special 2024. To those that came to a show, bought some merch, said hello, listened to our music. We are truly thankful that you decided to support 5 people from Australia chasing their dreams. Bye.”
As mentioned in their statement, 2024 was a huge year for Between You & Me. The band achieved several career milestones and dropped the well-received Sh!t Yeah EP, which Wall of Sound called a “triumphant forward bound.”
Fingers crossed Between You & Me’s hiatus is only a short one and their time away fuels them to come back bigger and better than ever.
