Kevin Mitchell, the frontman of Aussie rock icons Jebediah, has announced he’ll be touring the country this November and December. The When Kev Met Bob Rides Again tour is a meeting of Mitchell and his alter ego Bob Evans, and will feature the acclaimed singer-songwriter performing tracks from across his three decade career.

After undertaking a similar tour last year where Mitchell performed tracks from his stacked 12 album catalogue that includes both Jebidah and solo releases, fans can expect to hear both acoustic and electric songs performed by Mitchell at intimate venues across the country.

Speaking about the tour, Mitchell says: “Last year I took the plunge with something that had been at the back of my mind for many years, playing a show that combined my Jebediah and Bob Evans songs together for the first time ever.

“For nearly 30 years I had kept them completely separate but now felt ready to step into a new era.  The result was much more than I had expected, sold out shows and a peculiar feeling of completeness that was new.  Simply put, it was the most satisfying run of shows I had done in years, and I knew straight away that I had to do it again. So why not now, at the end of 2024?

“In a year where Jebediah released their first new album in over a decade and with so many other Jebs and Bob songs to choose from, this new round of When Kev Met Bob shows will revisit the best moments from the last tour and add a whole batch of different songs into the mix, stretching all the way back to 1996 and right up to the present.”

The tour commences at Brunswick Picture House at Brunswick Heads on Thursday, November 14 and continues with shows at Mo’s Desert Clubhouse on the Gold Coast on Friday, November 15, The Brightside in Brisbane on Saturday, November 16 and Sooki Lounge in Belgrave on Friday, November 22.

Mitchell then makes the journey across the Red Centre for a gig at the Rosemount Hotel in Perth on Friday, November 29. Then it’s off to Adelaide for a performance at the Grace Emily Hotel on Saturday, November 30 followed by gigs at Newcastle’s Flamingos Live on Thursday, December 5, Sydney’s Lansdowne Hotel on Friday, December 6 and Caringhah’s Huxleys on Saturday, December 7.

The final two concerts take place at Heritage Hotel in Bulli on Sunday, December 8 and Melbourne’s Northcote Social Club on Saturday, December 14.

Tickets for all shows are on sale now via Bob Evan’s website.

Kevin Mitchell began his career as the frontman for Jebidah 30 years ago in 1994. Finding success with their debut album Slightly Oddway, which includes the hit ‘Leaving Home’, the band established themselves as part of Australia’s late 90s alternative music scene. Two more Jebediah albums followed – Of Someday Shambles (1999) and Jebediah (2002) – before Mitchell went solo under his pseudonym, Bob Evans.

Suburban Kid, his first album as Evans, was a departure from the rock and roll of Jebeidah. The album contains 12 tracks of acoustic folk numbers showing a different side to Mitchell. He’s gone on to release six Bob Evans records, with the most recent being 2021s Tomorrowland.

One of Australia’s favourite troubadours, these shows are a fantastic opportunity for fans to catch Evans in the flesh performing both Jebediah hits and his own solo recordings.

Catch Bob Evans at the Grace Emily on Saturday, November 30. Tickets are on sale now via Oztix.
