Australia’s version of the Grammy Awards, the ARIAs has been held annually since 1987. Established by the six main record companies operating in Australia at that time – EMI, Festival Records, Sony Music (then known as CBS), BGM (then known as RCA), Warner Music (then known as WEA) and Universal (then known as PolyGram) – the ARIAs aim to highlight the cream of Australia’s music scene.
Some of the country’s biggest acts have taken home an ARIA gong, with John Farnham and Silverchair tied for the most wins with 21 each, while the ARIA Hall of Fame includes the likes of Cold Chisel, INXS, Kylie Minogue and Yothu Yindi.
You can watch the ARIA Awards live on Wednesday, November 20 from 4:30pm on Stan. Channel 9 will follow the live broadcast with a recap of the event featuring performances and standout moments from the ceremony. YouTube will also air this special presentation.
