UK indie act Catfish And The Bottlemen have cancelled their Australian tour. Set to kick off tonight in Sydney, the band has cited illness as the reason for pulling the plug on their tour last minute.

The news is devastating for fans who have been waiting for the band to return to our shores after reforming in 2023.

The cancellation of all six shows comes after the band canned their Dublin show over the weekend. Catfish And The Bottlemen have released a statement that appears on the Ticketek website that reads:

“Catfish and The Bottlemen want to thank the fans for their support. This weekend they were hoping to still be able to perform but on doctor orders they were forced to cancel their show in Dublin.

“Due to band illness, the Australian dates this month will also no longer be going ahead. The band were really looking forward to these shows and sincerely apologise to everyone for any inconvenience and disappointment.

“Thank you for your understanding and continued support.”

Fans will receive a full refund, with Ticketek explaining that all “tickets will be automatically refunded in full to the original payment method used for purchases and patrons do not need to take any action.”

Formed in Wales by Van McCann and Benji Blakeway in 2007, Catfish And The Bottlemen broke through with their 2014 debut album, The Balcony.

The band went on to two more albums, The Ride (2016) and The Balance (2019), and toured the world regularly, amassing a solid fanbase in Australia. Not long after the release of The Balance the BRIT Award winners went on hiatus, reforming in 2023 and releasing their first new single, ‘Showtime’, earlier this year.

After performing at Leeds and Reading Festival just over a week ago, Catfish And The Bottlemen were set to tour Australia before returning to the UK to finish work on their upcoming fourth album.
