THE EMPTY THREATS LEAD SA MUSIC AWARDS NOMINATIONS
The nominations for the South Australian Music Awards are here! The annual celebration of the state’s best bands, artists and industry professionals have released the finalists for his year’s award show, which will take place at Woodville Town Hall on November 8.
Leading the nominations is noise-rock post-punk five-piece The Empty Threats, who are up for an incredible six awards including Best Song, Best New Artist, Best Group and Best Release. Their film clip for 'Evil Eye’, directed by Conor Mercury, has also been recognised for Best Music Video, as well as the cover art for Monster Truck Mondays, designed by Gaz Kanata, for Best Cover Art.
Arabana, Yawuru and Marridjabin singer-songwriter Nathan May and APY Land hip-hop collective DEM MOB follow the five-piece with four nominations each. May is a contender for Best Song, Best Solo Artist, Best Release and Best Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Artist. DEM MOB’s four nods sees them recognised for Best New Artist, Best Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Artist, Best Regional Artist and Best Music Educator for their education program, Kurunpa Kunpuntjaku. Further, folk performer Alana Jagt received three nominations and nationally-celebrated rockers Bad//Dreems are up for two.
