Swedish Metal Legends Opeth Announce 2025 Australian Tour
The Swedish progressive metal giants return to Australia for the first time in six years.
After what seems like an eternity (in reality six years), Swedish metal behemoths Opeth are touring Australia in 2025.
Heading our way in support of their soon-to-be-released concept album The Last Will and Testament (set for release November 22), Opeth have locked in six massive concerts across November 2025. Promising two-hour-plus sets filled with Opeth favourites, deep cuts and new tracks, these shows are expected to sell out like nobody’s business.
Opeth’s 2025 Australian tour begins with two concerts at the Sydney Opera House on Monday, November 17 and Tuesday, November 18. These are followed by performances at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on Thursday, November 20, Melbourne’s Palais Theatre on Friday, November 21, Adelaide’s Hindley Street Music Hall on Saturday, November 22 and Perth’s Astor Theatre on Monday, November 24.
Pre-sale tickets are available from Thursday, November 14 at 10:30am local time. General public on-sale kicks off Friday, November 15 at 10:30am local time.
As a way to thank fans, those who pre-order The Last Will and Testament on Wednesday, November 13 will receive a special ticket pre-sale code for the tour to ensure they get first dibs on tickets.

Considered one of the pioneer prog-metal acts of the 90s, Opeth’s musical tapestry incorporates everything from folk and blues to death metal and classical music, making Opeth one of the most unique bands in the world.
The Swedish band’s nearly 35-year career spans 14 albums (including The Last Will and Testament), over 800,650 monthly Spotify listeners and more than 1.5 million sales of their albums and DVDs worldwide.
As for their new record, The Last Will and Testament is a concept album set in the post-World War I era about a wealthy, conservative patriarch whose last will and testament reveals shocking family secrets.
Speaking about the album, vocalist/guitarist Mikael Åkerfeldt says: “I love this record. I have to say it (write it). Maybe I’m proud even? There are some familiar ingredients in there I suppose. Most of our music has sprung from the same source, so I guess it’s not much of a shocker if it’s going to sound like ‘us’.
“I’m a bit in awe of what we did with The Last Will and Testament. It feels like a dream. There is some ‘coherence’ and ‘songwriting skills’ I hope, but what do I know? I tend to favour the ‘strange’ over the 'obvious,' but I feel like I’m in the minority, and that’s fine. So…fair warning! Don’t expect an instant rush (as per usual), but if you do ‘get it’ (have you got it yet?) right away, that’s ok too!”
