Some of Aus’ brightest indie, folk and punk talent will take to Rhino Room and Lowlife Bar this winter.
It’s always a good day when P.A.K Records announce it’s throwing another festival! On August 10, the local label and events collective will host a new boutique festival, Round and Round, across two stages at Rhino Room and Lowlife Bar.
The event will be headlined by Victorian singer-songwriter Leah Senior, who’ll return to the state after a five-year absence. Blending an intimate bedroom folk sound with lyrics that cut like a knife, Leah is celebrated for her ability to capture time, place and emotion in the words that she writes. Her latest offering is no different – a collection of songs that’ll leave audiences silenced at Round and Round.
Joining Leah will be Melbourne’s Porpoise Spit, a four-piece that marries influences like Courtney Barnett and Midnight Oil with sharp punk sensibilities. Named on Double J’s roundup of the ‘Best Bands at BIGSOUND’, this outfit isn’t one to miss.
Rounding out the top line of the festival bill is Adelaide’s own Placement, who’ll close the Lowlife Bar stage. The five-piece cut their teeth in the local scene, crafting a noise that’s soaked in the grimy, guitar-driven noise of the ’90s and balanced by emotive storytelling that reflects the everyday. No wonder they’ve supported the likes of Press Club and Quicksand tour.
The rest of the Round and Round lineup will be filled out by a swag of local talent that pulls from all corners of Adelaide’s scene. Catch P.A.K’s own post-punkers, Coldwave, alongside heavyweights like The Munch, Swapmeet, Kurralta Park and War Room. Of course, it wouldn’t be a P.A.K party without some extra fun. The five hours of non-stop music will be elevated by live visuals from Ryan Sahb and wrapped up by DJ XXXquisite. Make sure you check out the exclusive, pop-up P.A.K Records store, too!
Tickets are available now and start at $35. Round and Round will take place at Rhino Room and Lowlife Bar this August 10. This gig is 18+. Grab your ticket here.
