Melbourne-based post-punk thrillers Radio Free Alice are back in the country with big news after a whirlwind tour of the UK and Europe. Not only has the five-piece announced the release of their second EP Polyester (set for release August 21), but Radio Free Alice has shared new single ‘Johnny’ and revealed a national tour kicking off this August.
Polyester was recorded with Nao Anzai at Soundpark Studios and completed at various locations in London, Paris, Bristol, Dublin, Nottingham and the Czech Republic while the band was on tour. Mixed by Ewan Pearson (Warpaint, M83, Joy Division) and mastered by Mikey Young (Eddy Current), Polyester retains the gritty live feel of the band’s on-stage energy with a touch of studio sheen.
As for the tour, it takes place during August and September, with the first date locked in for Thursday, August 15 at the Beach Hotel in Arakwal Country/Byron Bay. The lads then perform at Tomcat in Meanjin/Brisbane on Saturday, August 17 before heading to Eora/Sydney for a show at the Lansdowne Hotel on Friday, August 23 followed by a gig at Bar Yuki in Yuin Country/Milton on Saturday, August 24.
It’s then down to Naarm/Melbourne for a show at The Night Cat on Thursday, August 29 before the final three dates of the tour at the Bridge Hotel in Dja Dja Wurrung/Castlemaine on Saturday, August 31, the Crown & Anchor in Kaurna/Adelaide on Thursday, September 5 and Mojos in Boorloo/Perth on Friday, September 6.
Tickets to all shows are on sale now via Radio Free Alice’s website.
