Triple j favourites Dean Forever are back with soaring synth gem ‘Greatest Once’, a tune that frontwoman Kiah Lanagan explains is ‘about a fall from grace, of sorts.’ Inspired thematically by Cat Power’s ‘The Greatest’, this melodic single from the up-and-comers is an absorbing indie pop beauty. It combines Lanagan’s emotionfilled vocals with multi-instrumentalist Jakub Tenghdahl’s sonic tapestries; meanwhile guitarist Nicholas Pipe provides engaging riffs which add a vibrant new dimension to the track.
Produced by Adelaide legend Matt Hills and mastered by Justin Pizzoferrato (Pixies, Dinosaur Jr.), ‘Greatest Once’ is a captivating single with intricate flourishes and rollicking percussion you can’t help but groove along to.
