Ever since Elsy Wameyo hit the local scene with her debut single in 2018, she’s been an inimitable force of South Australian music. On ‘Piny Lara’, her second release of the year, she’s showcasing the past and future all at once. With a forwardthinking and deeply intoxicating approach to her own brand of soulful R&B, the track also sees co-producer Wuod Omollo singing in Luo – a language spoken in Wameyo’s native Kenya. Together, this mesmeric blend provides the backdrop to a song that’s about overcoming difficulties and finding your saviour when it feels like the world is against you. On ‘Piny Lara’, however, it’s clear that the whole world is on Wameyo’s side.
