A year and a half after the release of their acclaimed fourth studio album Hoo Ha!, local favs Bad//Dreems have announced the release of their first official live album, Quality Meats.

Taking to social media to reveal the project (pre-order a vinyl copy here), the band shared a statement detailing the reasons behind the release.

“We’ve always been a ‘live’ band, if you will,” the statement begins. “A band that hopefully proffers energy in menacing bursts, olive-branching some sort of release for our live audiences, perhaps. We’ve often struggled to capture that lightning-in-a-bottle-energy on record and up until now, we’ve never released live recordings of our shows.

“We’re hugely excited to show you all Quality Meats, a combination of live recordings from two wild gigs that we absolutely adored playing - and often reminisce about. This LP is soon to be streaming and on record, making Bad//Dreems eternally available to hear live - with that loose, bull-in-a-china-shop type thingy.

Two tracks from the album recorded at the Corner Hotel in Melbourne – ‘Mansfield 6.0’ and ‘Cuffed & Collared’ – will be available to stream this Wednesday, November 13.

Quality Meats is also the inaugural release from Bad/Dreems’ newly established Gutto Records (GUT001) and is limited to a pressing of only 300.

The recordings collected on the album occurred at shows earlier this year, with four of the ten tracks recorded at Nice Day to Go to the Club Festival at Port Noarlunga Footy Club in the lad’s home state of South Australia on February 24, while the rest of the album’s tracks were taken from Bad//Dreems roaring gig at the Corner Hotel in Melbourne on June 24.

“The recordings showcase all that defines a Bad//Dreems’ live show: the duelling guitars of Alex Cameron and Ali Wells and the taut and propulsive rhythm section of Miles Wilson and Deon Slaverio,” says the blurb on the band’s website. “Which of course provides the canvas for frontman Ben Marwe to weave his magic, inhabiting the distinctive characters of the songs as only he can, flitting between absurdity and aggression; malevolence and mirth; bogan pride and braggadocio.”

Superfans can pre-order a limited vinyl bundle that includes a special ‘84 Good Year for Pulsar tee. And as a treat for those splashing the cash, every order gets an extra piece of merch for free. It’s a deal, it’s a steal, it’s the sale of the fucking century!
