Empire of the Sun Announce New Album ‘Ask That God’, Share Video for Single ‘Music on the Radio’
The duo’s first album in eight years is set to drop July 26.
Empire of the Sun has confirmed the release of their first album in eight years, the much anticipated Ask That God. The duo’s fourth long player comes eight years after 2016’s top ten ARIA Album charting Two Vines.
“It has been a journey unlike any other that Empire Of The Sun has undertaken. We always ‘go there’ when it comes to exploration of both the self and the outside world,” the duo’s Nick Littlemore explained in a statement. “This body of work represents the greatest shift in consciousness our world has ever seen, and that’s reflected in the music.”
Singer Luke Steele added, “Ask That God is an album we searched for and were thankfully blessed with. We are nothing more than conduits, gathering experience and finding what is meant for the Empire to find.”
The announcement of Ask That God also coincides with the release of the music video for new single ‘Music on the Radio’, which you can watch below.
‘Music on the Radio’ is a vibrant electro-pop explosion with a music video directed by Michael Maxxis, the mastermind behind their film clip of the previous single, ‘Changes’.
“To me, this song is like a teenager rebelling against his imaginary emotions,” Steele said in a statement. “It’s penned in only that unique way Lord Littlemore can bring words to life. The bass wraps its arms around you in some kind of hypnotic groove and you're powerless to its charms.”
Empire of the Sun has also released the track listing for Ask That God, with the album featuring 12 tracks and a collaboration with fellow Aussie electronic act PNAU.
Ask That God is set for release on Friday, July 26. You can pre-order/pre-save the album here.
