Adelaide’s alt-garage-folk-punk trio The Mushniks could be the next architects of musical minimalist perfection. The three-piece subscribe to the theory ‘less is more’ remarkably well in this sad ballad that’s surprisingly fun and quirky. The single doesn’t deviate from its surf rock modesty, but its simplicity is incredibly infectious.
Weezer’s influence ripples throughout this jingle with splashes of Queens of the Stone Age’s ‘Make It Wit Chu’. However, these are just guidelines. The Mushniks’ sound is so much more – something they accomplish by doing, ironically, less.
