Hanabie. formed in 2015 when four Tokyo school girls decided to start a band in tribute to their favourite act, Maximum the Hormone. Beginning life as a cover band, they began writing their own music a year later, releasing their debut single ‘Crash Over’ in 2016.
The band’s name, which means “chilly spring weather”, is a reference to the seasons they were born in, with the quartet slowly building a fanbase throughout Japan before finally breaking through into the mainstream in 2023 with the single ‘Pardon Me, I Have To Go Now’. The song turned the group into massive stars and currently has over 7 million views on YouTube and over 5 million views on TikTok, which is pretty darn impressive.
Having gone through several personal changes over the years, the current lineup of Hanabie. consists of vocalist Yukina, guitarist Matsuri, bassist Hettsu and drummer Chika. With their most recent album, 2023’s Reborn Superstar!, critically acclaimed and reaching #24 on the Japanese Billboard charts, Hanabie. are certified superstars and one band you don’t want to miss when they arrive this November.
