Aussie rockers Jet are back with ‘Hurry Hurry’, their first new single in 15 years.
A tidy chest thumper, ‘Hurry Hurry’ is accompanied by B-side ‘Un’avventura’, a track featuring vocalist and guitarist Nic Chester – who has been living the good life in Italy for the past 15 years – singing in both English and Italian.
“‘Hurry Hurry’ is our first single in 15 years and a little appetiser while we continue to work on our upcoming album,” Chester said in a statement about the song. “We’ve been playing ‘Hurry Hurry’ live with a great response from our fans in Australia, we’re really looking forward to debuting it live at our overseas shows in Italy, the UK and the US.”
First released on vinyl earlier this year, all 300 copies of ‘Hurry Hurry’ sold out in record time. Being good blokes, Jet are releasing an additional 1,200 numbered copies on black vinyl for those who missed out. Dropping October 10, you can pre-order your copy now via Impressed Recordings.
The release of the tune comes as Jet’s popularity is at an all-time high. The quartet have spent the past 12 months celebrating the 20th anniversary of their debut album Get Born, playing sold out concerts across the country.
Jet became the toast of Australia’s rock scene in 2003 with the release of their ARIA Album Chart-topping debut, Get Born. The album produced the hit singles ‘Are You Gonna Be My Girl’, ‘Rollover DJ’, ‘Look What You’ve Done’, ‘Cold Hard Bitch’ and ‘Get Me Outta Here’, and received universal praise from critics.
The seven-time ARIA Award winners followed Get Born with 2006s Shine On and 2009s Shaka Rock before announcing their “discontinuation as a group” in 2012.
Since reforming in 2016, Jet have toured both nationally and internationally and supported the likes of Bruce Springsteen and Jimmy Barnes. Jet have a run of shows planned for the UK this October before heading Stateside in November.
Jet also have several Australian shows planned before the end of the year, performing with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in Melbourne and playing at all three legs of this year’s massive Good Things Festival.
‘Hurry Hurry’ and ‘Un’avventura’ are available to stream now. Pre-order a copy of the ‘Hurry Hurry’ vinyl here.
