Slayer guitarist and driving force Kerry King has revealed during an interview with Metal Injection that he’s heading to Australia in December for a string of shows.

“In November we have two Mexico shows, and then in December we have like a week-and-a-half in Australia,” he explains. “And I think early next year we headline the US and then, ideally, we headline Europe.”

The news is sure to excite Slayer fans, with King’s appearance likely to see him perform at Good Things Festival. Although the lineup has yet to be announced, we do know the festival is running during the early weeks of December, with dates locked in for December 5 in Melbourne, December 7 in Sydney and December 6 in Brisbane. King would be a perfect fit for the punk and heavy metal music fest.

Elsewhere in the interview, King talked about playing Slayer songs alongside his own solo work. “People want to see me play Slayer songs, and I’m going to. For now, I play stuff that I either wrote or co-wrote.” You can watch the full conversation with Metal Injection below.

King rose to fame as co-founder of Slayer in the 80s, with the band releasing several classic albums, including Reign in Blood, South of Heaven and Seasons in the Abyss. Along with Metallica, Anthrax and Megadeth, they became known as The Big Four and dominated the thrash metal scene for decades.

Slayer abruptly parted ways in 2019, with King going out on his own and releasing his first solo album, From Hell I Rise, earlier this year. King enlisted Josh Wilbur (Lamb of God, Korn, Trivium) to produce the album and recruited Mark Osegueda of Death Angel on vocals, former Vio-lence and Machine Head guitarist Phil Demmel, Hellyeah bassist Kyle Sanders and Slayer and former Testament, Forbidden and Exodus drummer Paul Bostaph as his bandmates.

The album was a critical and commercial success, hitting the top of the UK Rock & Metal Albums Chart and reaching #2 on the Billboard US Heatseekers Albums Chart. Classic Rock called From Hell I Rise “the best Slayer album Slayer never made.”

In news that surprised everyone, Slayer announced they were getting back together earlier this year to perform at Riot Fest, Lounder Than Life and Aftershock festivals in America.
