Lorde Wipes Social Media Accounts Prompting New Album Speculation
Fans are convinced the New Zealand artist is preparing for the release of her fourth album.
Pop superstar Lorde has wiped her social media accounts this week, raising suspicions she might be preparing for the release of her hotly anticipated fourth album.
As of Monday, August 12, both Lorde’s X and Instagram accounts have been purged, with no images or comments to be found. The only clue to her new era are the captions in Lorde’s Instagram and X bios.
While her X bio is pretty normal: “How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives,” it’s her Instagram bio that’s a little more intriguing: “THE THEMES ARE ALWAYS THE SAME— A RETURN TO INNOCENCE— THE MYSTERIES OF THE BLOOD— AN ITCH FOR THE TRANSCENDENTAL.”
Of course, this doesn’t prove new music is on the way. Lorde deleted her social media posts in February 2023 and nothing came from that. But we do know she has been writing and recording new material after the ‘Royals’ and ‘Supercut’ hitmaker posted an Instagram Story of her in the studio a few weeks back. As NME reports, the video featured Lorde bopping along to an unreleased track accompanied by the caption, “will be back in touch”.

Fans have been clamouring for new music from Lorde since her last release, 2021s Solar Power. While she has been posting cryptic clues on her socials over the past several months, there has been no concrete evidence hinting at what she’s cooking up, besides her now deleted Instagram Story.
And as DORK reports, Lorde is known for taking a painstakingly long time to write and record, explaining: “It has taken me quite a while [to start working on it]. I mean, I do just take a long time… I do a lot of research, I write a lot down. I don’t want to wait, you know, so take from that what you will.”
What we can confirm is Lorde has been out and about enjoying the summer with her friends, appearing in a photo playing pool with Marina (formerly known as Marina and The Diamonds), who is also said to be working on a new album, while also rocking out with Charli XCX at her recent 32nd birthday party in LA.
Lorde also popped up on the remix of her good friend Charli’s ‘Girl, so confusing’ and contributed a cover of ‘Take Me To the River’ to the Talking Heads’ tribute album Everyone’s Getting Involved: A Tribute to Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense.
Be sure to follow Lorde on her Instagram and X accounts to keep up to date with her speculated album rollout.
