Nominations for the SA Music Awards Are Now Open
There are 33 different categories to choose from with winners announced in November.
MusicSA is excited to announce the South Australian Music Awards are now open for nominations. It’s that time of year when those involved in the SA music industry get their flowers for their incredible achievements and contributions to the local scene.
The awards are open to anyone in the local music scene, from bands and managers to producers and photographers. You can nominate yourself, your band or business, or someone you think deserves recognition for their contributions to the local scene.
This year there are 33 different categories, including Best Small Festival or Music Event (under 1,000 capacity), Best Live Music Educator and Best Release (EP/Album). The 2024 awards also includes the introduction of a new category, Best Live Music Photograph.

There are two streams of voting categories: Industry Voted and People’s Choice. The Industry Voted awards are judged by an esteemed panel of local and national industry professionals (including our own Zara Richards), while the People’s Choice awards are voted for by Adelaide’s music-loving public.
The APRA AMCOS Emily Burrows Award will once again be up for grabs, with the winner receiving $5,000 to help develop their musical career. Past winners include Hilltop Hoods, The Beards and DEM MOB, who took out the award last year.

The 2023 SA Music Awards were dominated by DEM MOB. Not only did they win the coveted APRA AMCOS Emily Burrows Award, but the hip hop group also took out awards for Best Regional Artist, Best Music Educator and the People’s Choice Best Hip Hop award.
