The festival’s demise is another in a long line of cancellations that have rocked the Australian music industry.

Spilt Milk is the latest Australian music festival to pull the plug in 2024. Taking to social media to announce the news, festival organisers posted this message:
“Sorry pookies, we couldn’t get you the Spilt Milk you deserve this year 🥲 Sooo imma dip for a bit and come back when I can make all ur dreams come true 🫶 i miss u xx”
The cancellation of the multi-city music and arts festival comes after Spilt Milk’s epic 2023 lineup that included Post Malone, Dom Dolla, Latto, Dermot Kennedy and more.
While organisers haven’t given a solid explanation for why the festival isn’t going ahead, word on the street is a major headliner pulled out at the last minute, throwing the lineup into chaos.
Whatever the reason, it’s sad to see another festival go the way of Splendour in the Grass and Groovin’ the Moo.

First held in Canberra in 2016 with a lineup including American rapper Vince Staples, Sydney indie rockers DMA’s and electro favourite Flume, the Spilt Milk was a massive success, selling out within hours and demonstrating the passion of music lovers in the ACT.
The festival expanded to Ballarat in 2019 before being forced into hibernation during the COVID-19 years. It returned in 2022 with a Gold Coast leg before adding a Perth date in 2023.
The award-winning Spilt Milk had established itself as one of the country’s best boutique festivals and it’s sad to hear the music and arts event won’t go ahead during its usual November/December period this year. Fingers crossed we will see Spilt Milk back in 2025.
