Mallrat Shares New Single ‘Ray of Light’

Aussie pop chameleon Mallart is back with her first solo single in two years. ‘Ray of Light’ is a technicolour electronic creation produced by Styalz Fuego (Troye Sivan, Tate McRae) and mixed by Grammy Award-winning Oli Jacobs (Harry Styles, Taylor Swift).

As reported by Rolling Stone, Mallrat had this to say about the new tune, “I often feel pulled in certain directions by invisible forces. I secretly suspect that it’s the work of heavenly angels, and sometimes I feel like an alien for these inexplicable knowings. When I imagine this situation through the eyes of somebody who doesn’t know wide-eyed wonder I think, these thoughts are at worst grounds to be admitted to the psych ward, and at best an embarrassing cocktail of narcissism and delusion. Wait, I’m not crazy! I’m locked in and can talk to angels!”

Since the release of her 2022 debut album Butterfly Blue, Mallrat has collaborated with the likes of Alice Ivy on ‘Broke My Heart’ and BENEE for the official FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 theme song, ‘Do It Again’.

It appears The Offspring are big fans of UK sensation Yungblud. Performing at Open Air Gampel in Switzerland last Friday (August 16), the 90s punk rockers got the crowd hyped when they introduced Yungblud and invited him to join them on a rendition of their 1994 hit single, ‘Self Esteem’.

Frontman Dexter Holland told the crowd: “I mean, one of the cool things about playing these festivals is that you get to play with other people and meet other people, and we met some great guys today.

“We met this great young man today. We thought we should bring him out to play a song with us, right? What the hell! Because that’s what it’s all about. It’s not about the photo op – it’s about the camaraderie with the audience. Come on out, it’s Yungblud!”

Yungblud shared footage of the performance on his Instagram that quickly went viral, so The Offspring decided to release the official recording of the duet via YouTube, which you can watch below.

Beyoncé Unveils SirDavis Whiskey

Beyoncé is the latest celebrity to get into the booze business, with the American superstar releasing her own brand of whiskey.

Named after her grandfather, Davis Hogue, SirDavis is an American whiskey that takes influence from Scotch whisky and Japanese whisky. Released in partnership with LVMH, the brand behind Hennessy, Ardbeg and Glenmorangie, the spirit is made up of 51 per cent rye and 49 per cent barley and matured in sherry casks.

“I’ve always been drawn to the power and confidence I feel when drinking quality whisky and wanted to invite more people to experience that feeling,” Beyoncé Knowles-Carter said in a statement (via Line Of Best Fit).

“When I discovered that my great-grandfather had been a moonshine man, it felt like my love for whisky was fated. SirDavis is a way for me to pay homage to him, uniting us through a new shared legacy. In partnering with Moët Hennessy, we have crafted a delicious American whisky that respects tradition but also empowers people to experience something new and unique in the category. You can taste it better than I could ever tell you — welcome, SirDavis.”
