88 Pocha

Ready, steady, cook! From the brains behind Plus 82 comes 88 Pocha – Norwood’s dedicated destination for dak-galbi. Think of it as the little sister to your standard Korean barbecue. The chicken dish, marinated in gochujang, garlic, ginger and soy sauce, is brought to you raw and ready to sizzle on the custom-made hotplate in the centre of your table. Sides to pair with this spicy meal include kimchi pancakes, oysters and cold noodles. All of this is served in the former CNB site inside Parade Central – perfect for a quick feed pre-movie.

Yes Please: A generous serve of dak-galbi, duh.

Where: 9/185 The Parade, Norwood

East

Mediterranean flavours feel at home along Pirie Street, which has added new eatery East to its ever-growing collection of laid-back grab-n-go destinations. Serving suit-wearers who need lunch on the run, the light-and-bright daytime spot serves fresh flavours fast. East is wholesome in its pursuit, too – honest, quality ingredients are always used, ruling out any concern that your midday feed will result in a 3pm slump at your desk. What does that look like? Protein-stuffed pita pockets, healthy bowls and tall glasses of iced matcha. Delish!

Yes Please: The West pita, stuffed with beef and chimichurri sauce.

Where: 70 Pirie Street, Adelaide

Ozin

The art of charcoal-based cooking is what new East End restaurant OZIN celebrates. Locally sourced, top-shelf ingredients are fired over a purpose-built grill, infusing each course with a rich, smoky essence that makes you go “wow”. The menu itself takes cues from flavours found all over the world – think Tandoori-marinated roasted barramundi or chargrilled smoky chicken rubbed in Moroccan spices. As for the venue, it’s reimagined inside the bones of a restored 1920s heritage building, with enough mood lighting and luxe finishes that date night feels extra elevated here.

Yes Please: Traditional Nepalese Momo dumplings with dipping sauce.

Fold.

There’s a high chance you’ve already sunk your teeth into one of Fold.’s creations. Having worked closely with eateries such as Spread Deli and Gang Gang, the pastry wholesaler has opened its own brick-and-mortar on Port Road. What to expect? A rotating menu of housemade pastries that’ll make your mouth drool. We’re talking seasonal danishes (like creamy mushroom, potato and thyme), gourmet ham and cheese croissants and fruit-topped treats. Coffee, in all its forms, is also a show-stopper here (there are even regular guest roasters). If you’re not a bean fiend, check out the quirky mocktail menu – the tiramisu mix has our name all over it.

Yes Please: The spinach and feta quiche croissant.
