Sprinking Spots

It’s spring and drinking combined. Get it?

The Scenic Hotel

We don’t think there’s a pub lookout as iconic as The Scenic Hotel’s. Perched atop Norton Summit, a spot in the beer garden will gift you views over Adelaide that stretch as far as our city beaches. And come spring, the outdoor area is dotted with sunlight and lush greenery. Soak up some rays and sink some pints of SA beer. If you time it right, The Scenic also doubles as one of the best sunset spots in the state.

We’re Sipping: A Little Bang Hazy IPA.

Proof

Proof was one of the first venues to be awarded a small venue license (c.2013) and ever since, this tiny two-level haunt has been serving cocktails, an internationally leaning wine list and gooey toasties to the CBD’s after-hours crowd. Vibe-wise, the rooftop space could rival a city bar in a cool New York borough with its urban charm and swinging festoon lights. Delightful.

We’re Sipping: A negroni, duh.

Ern Malley

The courtyard of this Magill Road bar was made for the sunshine. Stone facades, overhanging trees and fairy lights transform the space into something you’d find in a European neighbourhood – especially on those sporadic balmy nights come spring. Visit here for long conversations with friends over some of the bar’s famed martinis.

We’re Sipping: If not a martini, a glass of '1000 Fires' Chenin by Jauma.

Where: 137 Magill Road, Stepney

Stanley Bridge Tavern

The lush beer garden of this historic Hills pub is particularly special in spring. It oozes quintessential countryside charm, with towering gum trees, a veggie patch and draped festoon lighting setting the scene. What’s more, the wine list here is revered. Park yourself here for a sun-drenched long lunch.

We’re Sipping: A Lobethal Bierhaus Hefë.

Where: 41 Onkaparinga Valley Road, Verdun
