Ten years on from the release of their ARIA Award-nominated debut album, Microscopic Wars, Kingswood is hitting the road to celebrate the album’s anniversary.

The ‘Microscopic Wars 10 Year Anniversary Tour’ takes in eight dates across Australia this August, with Kingswood breathing new life into the record with their upcoming live shows.

The band is excited to the album live, with frontman Fergus Linacre having this to say in a statement about the tour: “We cannot wait, genuinely we couldn’t be more pumped to honour this album by playing it in full, along with other hard charging heavy Kingswood tunes, and get nostalgic with the fans that helped throw our little band onto the big stage.”

Beginning in Melbourne at 170 Russel on Friday, August 2, the tour then hits the Coolangatta Hotel on the Gold Coast (Thursday, August 8), The Triffid in Brisbane (Friday, August 9), Metro Theatre in Sydney (Saturday, August 10), King St in Newcastle (Sunday, August 11), Lion Arts Factory in Adelaide (Friday, August 16), Prince of Wales in Bunbury (Saturday, August 17) and Magnet House in Perth (Sunday, August 18).

Kingswood won’t be going it alone, with several support acts lined up for the tour. Melbourne’s sultry Jacob Fitzgerald & The Electric City will play all dates on the tour, while alt-rockers Molly Rocket and indie champions Death By Denim will perform in Adelaide, Perth and Bunbury, and The Delta Riggs will perform at all East Coast shows.

The release of Microscopic Wars came off the back of several well-received EPs in 2014. Peaking at #6 on the ARIA Album Chart, the album was produced by multiple Grammy Award-winning producer and engineer Vance Powell (Jack White, Arctic Monkeys) at Blackbird Studio in Nashville.

Speaking about the album in a press release, Linacre explained, “The Microscopic Wars era was full of giant leaps into new worlds, previously just a kid’s dream. We embraced every moment with unbridled enthusiasm. Bigger shows, bigger crowds, festivals, international touring, it was a truly magical time that only fuelled our passion and confirmed our chosen path as the right one. So many friendships and memories made remain nurtured and cherished today.

“The album itself culminated many years of learning, honing, cultivating, experimenting. We threw everything we had at the chance to go to Nashville and record with Producer Vance Powell. We also met our now long-time collaborator Eddie Spear, who engineered the album. Nashville inspired us and we’ve returned there for most of our subsequent records.”

As detailed by Linarce, the experience of recording their debut in America stuck with the band and Nashville soon became their second home, with Kingswood returning to the city to record 2016 After Hours, Close To Dawn and 2020s Juveniles.

Across their decade long career, Kingswood has released six studio albums, played hundreds of shows across the globe and remain one of the country’s hardest working live performers.

Do yourself a favour and catch them live when they hit your city this August. You won’t be disappointed.

Tickets for Kingswood’s ‘Microscopic Wars 10 Year Anniversary Tour’ go on sale this Friday, May 24 via Destroy All Lines.
