LCD Soundsystem Return with New Single ‘X-Ray Eyes’
This is the first taste of the band’s fifth record which is still being recorded.

LCD Soundsystem are back with their first new tune in two years, ‘x-ray eyes’. The track follows 2022s ‘New Body Rhumba’ and was first heard on DJ Anu’s NTS Radio show Soup To Nuts a few weeks back.
On Friday, LCD Soundsystem released the official audio for ‘x-ray eyes,’ a song that recalls James Murphy and co’s This Is Happening era of music. The song’s release set the internet ablaze with rumours of a new LCD Soundsystem album, something Murphy cleared up in a statement he released via social media you can read below:
“so there’s a new lcd song now called x ray eyes.
“it’s the first single of what’s shaping up to be a new album. don’t ask me when that is, because we’re still working on it. but it feels very good to be putting out new music. we made a small run of silkscreened 12”s that will sell at the upcoming LA and NYC shows, and dfa will have a limited grip of them, but don’t freak out if you don’t get one because there will be a more readily available commercial release of the same record when we can get it together. we just made a pile of white labels and are screening 100 at a time for each gig. it’s a short lead time thing. and it’s fun.
“but, no, there’s no finished LP yet. but when we’re not playing shows, it’s getting closer and closer to completion. so that’s the news. anything else you hear is bullshit speculation.”

LCD Soundsystem’s last studio album was 2017's American Dream, the collective’s first US Billboard 200 #1 charting album. Since then, the band has primarily performed live, headlining tours across North America and appearing at festivals across the globe.
As mentioned by Murphy in his statement, LCD Soundsystem are currently performing shows in Los Angeles with New York gigs taking place throughout November and December.
The band has also been announced as one of the headliners for Primavera Sound Barcelona 2025 and will hopefully head back to Australia next year.
