After UK synth-pop act Soft Cell announced they were heading our way on their first ever Australian in 2025, SA fans were left with a feeling of disappointment when the band decided to skip the City of Churches. But after much demand, the 80s hitmakers have revealed they’ve added an Adelaide date to their tour.
The duo of vocalist Marc Almond and instrumentalist David Ball are touring in support of Soft Cell’s debut album, Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret, which they will perform in its entirety. Fans will be treated to the band’s biggest hits, including 'Tainted Love' and 'Where Did Our Love Go', along with a wide variety of tunes from Soft Cell’s five-album discography. Almond will also perform a set of his solo material.
“I have always wanted to go to Australia,” Almond said in a statement about the tour. “Over my 45-year career (yes that long) fans have always asked me when it might happen, so overjoyed to say that it is happening; and to perform both as Marc Almond with my solo hits, and then transform into Soft Cell on the same night will be another first. Everyone tells me Australians love to party and it promises to be something very special.”
The Adelaide show takes place at The Gov on Friday, April 11 2025. Tickets for the gig go on sale this Thursday, December 19 at 10:00am via The Gov’s website.

Best known for their UK #1 single ‘Tainted Love’ and platinum-selling debut album Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret, Soft Cell had an incredible 12 top 40 hits during their heyday in the 80s and also produced three studio albums.
Having broken up and reunited several times over the journey, Soft Cell released their fourth album Cruelty Without Beauty in 2002 and followed that up two decades later in 2022 with their fifth and most recent record, Happiness Not Included.
This is likely to be the only Australian tour Soft Cell embark on, so fans will want to get in quick to snap up a ticket.
