Forming in 1974, The Stranglers built a loyal following in their local town of Guilford as a pub rock act before embracing the punk ethos. They soon found themselves the toast of the UK music press, releasing their first four albums – Rattus Norvegicus (1977), No More Heroes (1977), Black and White (1978) and The Raven (1979) – over the span of just three years.
The Stranglers hit the big time in 1982 with the release of ‘Golden Brown’, a song that peaked at #2 on the UK Singles Charts and took the band into the mainstream. They’ve continued to release albums, their most recent being 2021’s Dark Matters, while touring the globe and performing to their adoring fans.
The current lineup consists of sole original member Jean-Jaques Burnel on lead vocals and bass alongside guitarist and vocalist Baz Warne, drummer Jim Macaulay and keyboardist Toby Hounsham.
Expect to hear all the hits from their extensive 50-year catalogue when The Stranglers celebrate their half-century milestone in March next year.
