ERIN BUKU – ‘THE WAY’
ERIN BUKU – ‘THE WAY’
SINGLE
Inner tribe
Ahhh. Neo soul maestro Erin Buku is back with a day- brightening new track. ‘The Way’ is a shimmering ode to the importance of expressing ‘political individuality’, combining elements of R&B, hip hop and soul to create a sound that’s timeless and borderless all at once.
Buku’s vocals - though smooth as honey - pack attitude, soaring over breakbeat drums and slick instrumentation that throws back to early ’00s pop. The track peaks during its playful bridge, as Buku raps: “When the government tries to spin their lies / Put your hands over your ears and say ‘la-la-la-la-la-la-la’”.
With a new album due to drop next year, rest assured that ‘The Way’ is just a taste of Erin Buku’s fresh sound and fierce production style.
Sounds like: Cracking a refreshingly wholesome drink (think peach kombucha) on a really hot day.
