After no new music for two years, Baker Boy is back with the anthemic single, ‘KING’.
A braggadocious victory lap for the Yolngu artist, ‘King’ finds the “Fresh Prince of Arnhem Land” celebrating his career achievements as he solidifies himself as one of Australia’s most impressive artists.
“I wrote ‘KING’ back in early 2023 with Jerome and Jacob Farah. It was a moment of me having a bit of a brag really. Not in an arrogant way, but just celebrating my wins and how far I’ve come,” Baker Boy shared in a press release.
“After Gela and post-touring I finally found some time to really look back and be like, ‘Damn I did good’, but then also had the space to make music without pressure. KING is just a celebration of that. It’s just about me being me, repping my mob back home, bragging ‘bout my five pyramids (5 ARIA wins) and getting to celebrate it with my crew. It's not that deep."

Baker Boy sings not only in English and Yolngu on ‘KING’, but also in Burarra for the first time. Produced by Jerome & Jacob Farah, Pip Norman and Rob Amoruso, ‘KING’ has an old school G-funk vibe even Dr Dre would be proud of, with Baker Boy declaring he’s “Feelin like Leo / Catch me if you can.”
The release of ‘KING’ comes ahead of Baker Boy performing alongside fellow First Nations artists King Stingray, Bumpy, JK-47, Kee’ahn and R.3.B. at QLD Music Trails’ Dream Aloud on October 5.
