The latest teaser from Jamie xx’s upcoming sophomore album In Waves is a collaboration with Australia’s own the Avalanches titled, ‘All You Children’.
The single is a joyful electronic ditty that samples Nikki Giovani’s spoken word track ‘Dance Poem’. It also marks the second collaboration between the two, with Jamie xx having previously contributed to the Avalanche’s track ‘Wherever You Go’ from their 2020 album, We Will Always Love You.
“The Avalanches have always been an inspiration for me,” Jamie xx said in a statement about the tune. “Their sample technique and how they piece together different sounds is incredible, and collaborating on a track with them has showed me new ways of making music.”
You can give ‘All You Children’ a listen below.
In Waves is set for release on Friday, September 20 via Young. The release of ‘All the Children’ follows previous singles ‘Baddy on the Floor’, ‘Treat Each Other Right’ and ‘Life’, which features Swedish icon Robyn.
Speaking about the album Jamie xx said: “My new album, In Waves, will be out on September 20th. I am so unbelievably happy. It’s been a while… and a lot has happened in that time. Ups and downs, growing up, figuring stuff out and then forgetting it all many times over. Life changing events and world changing events. These waves that we have all experienced together and alone.
”I wanted to make something fun, joyful and introspective all at once. The best moments on a dance floor are usually that for me. I can’t wait to share it with you.”
