Me First and the Gimme Gimmes Announce 2024 Australian Tour
The punk rock supergroup will be touring the country along with Chicago punkers Dwarves.
Two decades on from ruining Jonny's Bar Mitzvah, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes are heading Down Under to wreak havoc at another important milestone, the Quinceañera.
The ‘Band of the Long Weekend Tour’ comes in celebration of Me First and the Gimme Gimmes’ just released 12th album, Blow it…at Madison’s Quinceañera!.
The punk rock cover band – that still includes original members Spike Slawson (Swingin' Utters and Re-Volts), CJ Ramone (The Ramones) and Joey Cape (Lagwagon) – has lined up nine dates across the nation this October and November.
The tour kicks off in Brisbane at The Tivoli on Wednesday, October 30 before the party continues at Miami Marketta on the Gold Coast on Friday, November 1, Bar on the Hill in Newcastle on Saturday, November 2 and The Baso in Canberra on Sunday, November 3.
After a few days of rest Me First and the Gimme Gimmes play the Enmore Theatre in Sydney on Wednesday, November 6 followed by the Torquay Hotel in Torquay on Friday, November 8, the Forum in Melbourne on Saturday, November 9 and The Gov in Adelaide on Sunday, November 10, before their final gig in Perth at The Astor Theatre on Wednesday, November 13.
Coming along for the ride is Californian-based, self-proclaimed “last punk band” Dwarves.
Tickets for all shows go on sale this Thursday, July 18 at 11:30am local time via SBM Presents.

Known for their outrageous punk covers of classic songs, such as John Denver’s ‘Take Me Home, Country Road’, Cat Steven’s ‘Wild World’, Elton John’s ‘Rocket Man’ and Cher’s ‘Believe’, fans can expect to hear songs from Me First and the Gimme Gimme’s new album along with old favourites.
Similar to Ruin Jonny’s Bar Mitzvah, which was recorded live at a Bar Mitzvah, Blow it…at Madison’s Quinceañera! was recorded at an actual Quinceañera. Speaking about the experience, frontman Slawson said: “It was really tense for me going out to no applause… and to people actually walking away when we were playing. A Quinceañera is a very celebrated and important event, not just in a young girl’s life, but in the whole family’s.
“Mom and Dad were great, but it took the uncles a little while to warm up to me and our off-color jokes, though I think eventually they got it. Our process is to cast the line out and bring people to the point of, and beyond, outward expressions of displeasure like booing, and then hopefully reel them back in by the end of the set.”
Catch Me First and the Gimme Gimme’s in Adelaide at The Gov on Sunday, November 10. Tickets go on sale this Thursday, July 18 via SBM Presents.
