Naarm/Melbourne-based rock meets punk duo Mannequin Death Squad have released their hotly anticipated sophomore album, Wise and Dangerous (stream here)
Containing 11 ferocious punk rock tracks, the album was produced by the band, mixed by Brent Quirk and mastered by Matt Gray (Violent Soho, The Veronicas). To accompany the release, Mannequin Death Squad have shared a music video for the track ‘Shame’.
Opening with Elly Vex’s dreamy vocals over a lightly strummed acoustic guitar, the song soon transforms into a headbanging rocker that will have you up and about.
Speaking on the inspiration behind the track, the band says, “Coming to terms with the fact that you are too nice and are getting walked over in life, ‘Shame’ is an indie rock anthem about taking responsibility for things not going your way. It's about accepting that you are not special, and life is what you make of it.”
Mannequin Death Squad have also revealed an Australian tour in support of Wise and Dangerous, with the band getting things underway in Tarndanya/Adelaide at Crown & Anchor on Friday, April 18. This is followed by gigs at Black Bear Lodge in Meanjin/Brisbane (Saturday, April 19), Trocadero in Eora/Sydney (Saturday, April 26), La La La’s in Dharawal/Wollongong (Sunday, April 27), Altar in Lutruwita/Hobart (Saturday, May 3) and Northcote Social Club in Naarm/Melbourne on Saturday, May 10.
