December 06 - Noteworthy New Releases
Our favourite releases of the week.
TONIX – ‘Step Back’
Electro-punk trio TONIX deliver another winner with latest release, 'Step Back'. Formally known as 'Snake', the track is two and a half minutes of dazzling and melodic synths paired with hard-hitting percussion and Sammi Keough's soaring vocals. 'StepBack' continues TONIX's stunning streak of dancefloor fillers – hot!
Maybe Hugo – ‘888’
If you're in any doubt summer is here, give '888' a spin. With a swirling, hypnotic vibe, the song is the perfect soundtrack for sinking arvo beers or an intimate house party for two. Maybe Hugo conveys feelings of warmth, fun, and good times with this joyous synth wonder – big love!
Purée – ‘Oh Boy’
Modern rock music comes in many forms. For passionate quartet Purée, it takes shape through their engaging indie rock ditties, exemplified by the driving guitar splendour 'Oh Boy'. Simple but effective, 'Oh Boy' is everything you want from a rock and roll song, and demonstrates why Purée are your new favourite act.
Chelsea Manor – ‘Hindsight’
A throwback to the 90s, 'Hindsight' is the final release from Mount Gambier trio Chelsea Manor. First recorded in 2022, the track is a unique mesh of hazy guitars and frontwoman Bianca Hendy's talk-sing monologues. A song about embracing the rollercoaster of life and not letting the world pass you by, 'Hindsight' is a poignant farewell.
the genevieves – ‘bloody nose’
If you’re all about loud and fast tunes that still retain a pop sensibility, give ‘Bloody Nose’ from The Genevieves a listen.
The first single taken from their upcoming EP, ‘Bloody Nose’ is noise candy for the ears. It’s all driving riffs, hazy feedback and grunge choruses and reminds me of that 90s era of alt-guitar punk rock that hits hard and leaves you dazed.
Produced and mixed by James Brown at Wizard Tone Studios, ‘Bloody Nose’ is a welcome introduction to The Genevieves.
