Dexter Lahiff – ‘How I Really Feel’
The final track from solo indie artist Dexter Lahiff’s How I Really Feel EP is a sobering acoustic finger picker that explodes into a flurry of thrashing guitar riffs and battering percussion. Simultaneously soothing and chaotic, ‘How I Really Feel’ is a fantastic snapshot of what Lahiff is all about.
Jupiter Saloon – ‘Be Your Lady’
Soulful pop duo Jupiter Saloon's second single is a nostalgia-infused tune built around Eloise Addams’ heart-melting vocals and Nick Pipe’s bluesy guitar playing. Think neo-soul with a touch of '70s baroque pop and you’re on the money. Props to Pipe for his ripping guitar solo. Top stuff.
The Stubbies – ‘Sunday Scaries’
There’s nothing worse than waking up hungover on a Sunday full of regret, something The Stubbies capture perfectly on their melodic debut single ‘Sunday Scaries’. Combining hazy guitars with relatable lyrics about everything that can go wrong on a big night out, this is a fun indie bopper that’s hard to shake, much like the morning after.
Frank Justin – ‘Hold On’
‘Hold On’ is the result of Frank Justin's experiments with analogue recording, a DIY process that unshackled the solo artist from the constraints of perfectionism to create a sound rooted in immediacy. But that's the trick, the inflections of rawness pressed in this track only makes it more listenable. A dreamy snippet of reality slowed down.
